Rates for the 2011-2012 Academic Year
OSLPVA strives to nurture the health and beauty of people's voices by providing services for both children and adults interested in improving their singing and/or speaking voice skills. This mission is achieved in part by providing instruction in the areas of speaking and singing voice technique, liturgical music, and general music fundamentals.
Services and rates are listed below and are current as of October, 2011.
~ $25.00 for 30 minute lessons
~ $40.00 for 45 minute lessons
~ $50.00 for 60 minute lessons
~ I teach elementary school, middle school, high school and adult voice students interested in studying the following vocal genres: classical, musical theater, and contemporary commercial music (i.e., pop, country, Christian, folk, jazz). My specialty is liturgical music and cantoring.
~ Students learn healthy singing technique, stylistic and technical concepts that apply to the student’s choice of vocal genre, basic musicianship skills necessary for learning vocal music, and anatomy and physiology of the singing voice.
~ Cantoring skills for the Catholic liturgy are also taught to students wanting to become cantors in their parishes.
~ Music theory and sightsinging skills are taught to all students, and intensive instruction is available for students preparing for competitions or for students applying for admission into competitive music programs.
~ Students have the opportunity to perform in studio master classes, studio recitals, and NATS competitions. Students are also encouraged and prepared to participate in other local competitions, auditions and vocal ensembles.
~ $50.00 for the evaluation, including written report
~ Evaluations of singing/speaking technique and vocal hygiene are required for students interested in pursuing vocal instruction.
~ Vocal hygiene recommendations, suggested singing/speaking technique goals and exercises to facilitate the achievement of those goals are outlined in a detailed written report.
~ $25.00 for 30 minute lessons
~ I teach healthy speaking technique to children and adults and provide direct instruction of skills necessary to facilitate the production of the student’s desired speaking characteristics.
~ This training is designed for students that are not diagnosed with a speech or voice disorder but want to improve their speaking voice characteristics.
~ The following areas are targeted in speaking voice training sessions:
~ breath management (correct breathing technique, proper support of the speaking voice, phrasing),
~ voice (speaking pitch, tone quality, prosody, inflection),
~ resonance (degree of nasality, tone focus, projection), and
~ articulation (pronunciation).
~ Vocal hygiene is also emphasized.
~ OSLPVA offers educational workshops for liturgical musicians about a variety of topics, including the anatomy and physiology of the singing voice, vocal health and hygiene, healthy singing and speaking technique, voice disorders, and liturgical vocal music. Group master class instruction is also offered for parish choirs and cantors.
~ Fees vary, depending upon the needs of the group and type of service requested.
