OSLPVA Speech-Language Pathology Services and Rates
for the 2011-2012 Academic Year
OSLPVA offers traditional speech therapy services combined with telepractice to maximize treatment potential. The OSLPVA therapy approach was developed using evidence-based practice, which includes current best evidence, clinical expertise, and client/patient values. OSLPVA uses exciting treatment materials such as ARtIC LAB, innovative technologies such as Apple FaceTime, and weekly collaboration with parents and teachers to maximize potential for treatment success.
The services and rates listed below are applicable for St. John the Evangelist Catholic School in Carmichael and for other Catholic schools in the Sacramento area. Students attending other private schools can also be served by OSLPVA in most cases. Please call OSLPVA for more information if you are interested in having services at your child's school.
For adults in the communty, voice screenings are a new service offered by OSLPVA. More information about this service is listed below!
Services and rates are listed below. Rate changes are effective as of September, 2011.
~ $125.00 per month
~ This package includes
~ two individual therapy sessions per month
~ 1-2 clinician-directed practice and family training sessions per week in-person or via Apple FaceTime (10 minutes max per session)
~ initial consultation meeting to review the student's case history and speech pathology records and development of treatment plan with student/family requirements and estimated # of sessions needed
~ ongoing communication and coordination with the student’s other clinical providers, classroom teacher, academic resource providers, school administration, and parents
~ training for school personnel on adaptations and accommodations that can help the student succeed in the classroom.
~Package offered on a continuous month-to-month schedule or during “semester” blocks. The block schedule is for three months in the fall (mid-September - mid-December) and four months in the spring (February-May). A one-month intensive course may be offered during the month of July. Stay tuned for details! Available openings for the semester blocks are advertised in August and January of each year. Please contact OSLPVA if you are interested in signing up for a semester block!
~ All therapy sessions are conducted during the school day at the school the student attends unless other arrangements are made. Therapy session times are coordinated with the student’s teacher to make sure that the session occurs at an ideal time for the student.
~ All practice sessions are scheduled with the family on a monthly basis and are required. Consistent and repeated practice of desired skills is essential for achievement of therapy goals, and clinician-directed practice sessions are designed to facilitate frequent and accurate practice. Family members have the opportunity to interact with their child's speech therapist 1-2 times per week, which is why this service delivery model is so effective.
~ This program is optimally designed for students who are also receiving therapy services from other providers. The goal is to facilitate carryover of skills students learn in therapy to the school environment and to assist teachers and school staff in serving these students. Students are not required to be receiving therapy from other providers to access this service from OSLPVA, but it is strongly encouraged.
~ FULL student and parent participation is expected and required. Level of participation is evaluated on a monthly basis and treatment plan/expected # of treatment sessions is modified based upon participation and progress.
~ No charge
~ Parents are encouraged to call if they have any questions about their child’s speech and language development or if they suspect their child has a speech or language problem.
~ No charge for on-campus screenings of speech and language skills at select schools
~ Parents of students who do not pass the screening will be provided with a letter that summarizes the screening results and directs them to a variety of community speech and language therapy service providers, including providers that offer free and reduced-cost assessment and treatment options.
~ Free speech and language screenings are offered as part of the philanthropic mission of OSLPVA to bridge the gap between the Catholic schools and available community speech pathology resources and services.
~ Please call or email OSLPVA to find out if free speech and language screenings are offered at your school site.
~ $150.00 for assessment package
~ Before an assessment is scheduled, you are always advised about your options in the community to obtain free or reduced-cost assessments. You are encouraged to get a free assessment for your child through the public school system to see what kinds of services are offered to you. Current and valid speech and language therapy assessments are accepted by this practice to initiate therapy, and an assessment is scheduled only in certain situations.
~ The assessment package includes a comprehensive on-campus assessment guided by screening results and parent/teacher concerns; a review of the student's case history and speech pathology records (if available); a written report of assessment results and a proposed treatment plan; and an on-campus meeting with parents, classroom teacher and school staff to discuss results and recommendations. Assessments are very thorough and may include both standardized and non-standardized measures of speech and language development, depending upon the needs of the student and the concerns of the student's parents and teachers.
~ $50.00 Voice Screening and Referral Package for Adults (NEW SERVICE)
~ The voice screening package involves an interview to obtain information about your voice concerns and health history, followed by a screening of your vocal quality and voice use. A detailed report is generated during the screening appointment. This report is designed to take with you to an otolaryngologist (ENT physician) for a medical examination regarding your voice concerns.
~ Before you can start voice therapy with any speech therapist, a medical examination is required to rule out medical causes for your voice problem. The screening report helps you make the most out of your appointment with your otolaryngologist and gives your doctor valuable information to guide his or her assessment.
~ This screening does not replace a comprehensive voice assessment, but is designed to be an important first step in addressing your voice problem. Appropriate referrals and vocal health recommendations are made during this appointment, and it is an opportunity for you to ask questions and to learn about the voice assessment and voice therapy process.
~ Fees vary, depending upon the needs of the group and type of service requested.
~ Please call OSLPVA for more information! Training and workshops can be customized based upon the group’s needs and interests.
